FAQ

Here is a list of some of the most frequently asked questions I get. If I didn’t answer your question and your inquiring mind has to know, feel free to contact me.

What diet are you on? I’m on the oldest diet in the world: the “eat right and exercise” diet. I have done all kinds of diets before, but my focus currently is on eating nutritious foods that are satisfying (very few processed foods, sugar and white flour) and exercising at least 5 times a week.

When I first started at 455 pounds, I followed the Atkins induction phase (from Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution) for quite a while. It is very restrictive, and personally I found it easier to operate with a strict list of foods I could eat and those that were completely off limit. You should do whatever you feel most comfortable with. There simply isn’t a perfect plan that fits everyone.

Have you had weight loss surgery? No, I haven’t. I’ve considered it various times, but don’t feel like it’s the right solution for me. Here are more of my thoughts about weight loss surgery.

How tall are you? I’m 5’10.

I don’t even know where to start – what are your tips? I completely understand. Here are my tips on how to start exercising.

Does having a blog help you lose weight? I took a whole post to answer this one :)

What kind of dog do you have? Lilly is my pup and she is an Airedale Terrier. Hubs and I got her from a local animal shelter after her owner gave her up when she was done breeding. She is very feisty and full of personality and love.

Who created your Skinny Emmie logo/character? I hired illustrator Meghan Murphy of www.murphypop.com to create my “character.”

    Hi Emmie,

    Hi Emmie!
You are truly an inspiration I’m 35, 5’10″, and 370 lbs. I’m supposed to fly on the 21st of April on Delta and I’m scared to death I’m going to be humiliated. I have even thought about backing out it will be my first flight. I have lost 46lbs so far and I’m so glad I found your blog. I think it will help greatly! If you have any advice about flying I would appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Ok I know it has already been asked but…..for some reason I thought you followed weight watchers….do you? I was looking at parts of your blog and saw both low carb/atkins and calorie counting( i think i did anyway).
If your not a ww or low carb then how do you plan the best way for you to eat to loose weight and how do you know what a good calorie range is for you?
And last but not least….wow! your blog is awesome! I am sorry you have the weight to lose but I am thrilled to find some one close to my size and height that can prove it can be done lik you have!
