Standing… and not sleeping

October 28, 2012

This is a miscellaneous post for you on Sunday night. It feels like 3am, but in fact it’s right before 10pm. Coming to you tonight from Knoxville, where I’ve been for 4 days working on a project that is pretty far outside my realm, but it’s been fun. The downside? I’m working 7, 12-hour shifts straight. Since I usually make my own schedule and work when I feel best, these long hours are hitting me hard.

I tried continuing my #yogaaday in the hotel room, which doesn’t have lots of floor space. I still plan on finishing the challenge, but I’ll do so when I get home later this week and can set up my camera properly. I’m still doing stretches and poses in my room, but it’s difficult to take photos. I’m excited to see that the #yogaaday challenge will continue in November. Yay!

Hotel room yoga can get a little cramped. Wide angle seated forward bend.

This week, I’ve had to do some walking throughout a facility, but also a lot of sitting. I have been feeling a little out of my element (thus this blog post last week), and self conscious. But today I realized as I walked down a long maze of corridors, I wasn’t winded. My feet didn’t hurt. I’ve been wearing my new Merrell Pace Gloves (mine are wide width) and they’re ridiculously comfortable, even after being all day in them. I was already used to zero-drop shoes since I wore Vibram Five Fingers to workout in, but these feel even better. Even though I’m feeling a little bit (or a lot) like a butterball, at least my movement and stamina is much better than I realized.

On another note, somehow Gwynnie Bee (the Netflix of clothes) had this delivered to my hotel room.

Inside was this top that I threw on for sushi with a Twitter friend. It’s not giving me a great effect in the tummy, but it might have just been my poor pose and photography. I’m going to try to snap photos of the other items tomorrow.

And a reminder: I’ve got the information on the free 30-day Gwynnie Bee trial here (up to 5 pieces!). It ends October 31, so you better jump if it’s something you’re interested in!

A note to my east coast friends: please be safe! Sending good vibes and juju for Hurricane Sandy to stay away. xoxo

Headed off to dreamland now. What’s on your mind this week?

Oh Emmie! YOu’re such an inspiration! Thanks for posting your everyday. It does really help to feel we are not alone in our struggle to lose weight having such a busy life.

That striped top is so cute! And good job sticking to your exercise even in less than ideal conditions. :)

As usual- I always learn something new from you! How great is Gwynnie Bee?? Also, I need to investigate your Yoga a day thingy. :)

Forgive me, I just started reading you blog and haven’t read your past blogs. I noticed that you posted a link to running clubs. Have you tried running? A friend of mine just picked up all of a sudden and began running. It’s been great for her, when I mentioned it to my Dr. and she said that I shouldn’t insult my body by going from 100% sedentary to a possible 5K. It seems doable, but I’m not sure it’s for me at this stage of the game. Anyway- I digress. :) Just curious if you’ve tried it and how you feel about it.

    Take care! :)
