Gwynnie Bee New Arrivals

It’s new arrival time at Gwynnie Bee, which I affectionately refer to as “the Netflix of clothes.” (Check out my other Gwynnie Bee posts here.) The thing I love about getting clothes from Gwynnie Bee is that there is no risk in trying new things. For example, I have wanted to try lace for a while, but couldn’t commit to buying a lace shirt I might wear once. I also wanted to experiment with different silhouettes or prints that I know I wouldn’t get enough uses out of to justify paying full price. With this set of new arrivals, I went way outside my comfort zone for every piece! If they didn’t work, I could just throw them back into the free shipping bag and give it back to UPS and wait for new things to arrive.

Love unwrapping these to see what goodies they sent!

Some of these pieces are prettier in person than in photographs, and vice versa. For example, the first lace top (the sleeveless one) is really gorgeous in person with some beading and an exposed back metal zipper. The polka dot top seems more flattering in photos than in person. I knew the blue dress would be a risk since the fabric has a sheen to it, the volume is at the top of the dress versus the slimmer bottom, and the dolman sleeve. It’s way different from anything I’d ever look at myself. If you’re an inverted triangle shape, the dress would look fantastic. Seeing as I carry my weight in my lower belly, it didn’t quite work for me as I’d like. The color though is stunning!

I posted the lace top with the peter pan collar on Instagram and Facebook and it got a lot of positive interest. As a whole though, I just don’t know if it’s really for me. I’m really glad I tried it though.

2 things I wanted to highlight:

  • Gwynnie Bee is now stocking items in 4X! Seeing as I’m on the high end of a size 24 and was formerly in the size 32 range, I’m so glad to see that they’re expanding their range.
  • 1 Free Piece: I am so excited to announce that I can now offer my readers 1 free additional garment for your first month when you sign up and tell them I sent you. To take advantage, request an invite (the site is invite-only at this time), and tell them that I (Emmie/Skinny Emmie) referred you. You must mention me in the sign up process so they will apply the free extra piece to your account for the first month.

Disclosure: I am coordinating with Gwynnie Bee to offer this to you. All heaps of love, photos, and opinions onto Gwynnie Bee are completely my honest opinion. I’m a little obsessed.

The color on that blue dress really does cover some of its sins (I’d have very similar issues, but it does look really pretty.)

I like the white top, but for me I wish it had a different neckline. I always feel very thick-necked in a crew type neckline. Don’t know why exactly. It’s really pretty though; the peter pan collar is adorable.

I know what you mean about feeling thick necked – I totally get that. I think the top with the peter pan collar is way cuter in person than in the photograph, but still doesn’t make me sing, you know?

It’s a shame about the polka dot shirt and blue dress, because in the pictures they are just stunning on you. I love watching you play dress up!

    • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

Oh girl, I wish they worked in person! It took about 8 photo attempts each before getting pictures that didn’t show every lump and bump. They would be amazing on someone who doesn’t hold as much weight in their stomach. Not hating on my stomach, it’s just my shape! :)

  • Jennifer

New fan. Love. Love. Love. So inspiring!

    • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

      Thanks so much Jennifer!

  • Emma Jane

Absolutely love the colours of that polka dot shirt on you! Pity that it doesn’t look so great in RL :( The greeny/blue colour really suits you.

    • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

I’m going to size up and see if it’s better :)

  • wendy

    Lurving the polka dot shirt!!!

      It’s pretty :)

I’d never heard of GB before reading your blog, but I’ll check them out. I tend to live in yoga pants and t shirts, so Old Navy online is my go-to spot for comfy size 3Xs.

    • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

Love Old Navy and wear it all the time, but for fun pieces to change things up, this is a cool option since there’s no commitment.

I like the lace top… very Victorian! All you need is a long skirt and you’re set for a tea party.

Ok, LOVING the half sleeve lace top, and the turquoise top! I know what you mean about the dress- I’d have the same thoughts if I were trying it as most of my weight is also in my bottom half. Still, it IS pretty. :) I’d say you got some nice pieces there.

  • Elizabeth

The lace sleeveless top is stunning, and the Perri Print Dot Top is really cute, too. I am really enjoying watching you model the clothes (and trying to contain my jealously, too)! Gwynnie Bee is such a fabulous idea – I just wish I could participate to support their business! I’m impatiently waiting for them to add clothes in sizes under 10. As they noted in their website, their goal is to empower all women by providing easy access to a fun, new, and stylish wardrobe. Ladies under size 10 fit that category, too!

Elizabeth, thanks a ton for your interest. We’ll get there! Stay tuned, but be sure to share with your friends who might benefit from Gwynnie Bee now in the meantime. Cheers! :D

You should keep the white top with the peter pan collar!!! It’ so pretty.

  • Denise

Do they only offer this in the States, or is Canada a viable shipping location?? thanks!

    • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

Currently they just opened and are in the States, but I’ll see if I can find anything out about Canada!

      • http://twitter.com/GwynnieBee GwynnieBee

Ladies, we aren’t shipping to Canada yet… Given the interest though, we are working on it. Stay tuned and thanks for your interest from north of the border!

AH first of all I just found your blog and I love it. I am on my weight loss journey too – I have lost 50 pounds with a goal to lose 100 more. Looking forward to following you.

  • Rachel

Everything looks beautiful but I LOVE that cobalt dress & booties! Tres chic! I might have to give Gwynnie Bee a try …

  • Jules

You are so beautiful Emmie. I love that white top and the blue dress is so flattering!

  • Sarah Imler

Really love the sleeveless lace top and the blue dotted top on you! Very flattering! And I love the cobalt blue of the dress but not the shape so much. Thanks for sharing!!

Everything looks great on you! Seeing your outfits lately has inspired me to hunt out a great pair of taylored jeans and smart black trousers. I have been doing leggings under dresses all summer but I need to start thinking about winter. I wish they had GB in the UK. What an amazing idea! Do you find it hard to let go of peices though?

  • Kristen Otto

I own a boutique for sizes 10-32 and carry a lot of the clothing you have shown. It is always nice to see it on a real woman and get her honest opinion on them. I wish my customers would take time to read your blog and see that you can look wonderful at every size!

  • http://twitter.com/#!/pattyaizaga Patty

I love all these looks on you! Gorgeous,

  • Blaire

Did I dream this, or did you say Gwynnie Bee is going to start carrying larger than a 24? I’m VERY interested in signing up, but might need a little larger than a 24 for now…Thanks! :)

    • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

YES! They already are, but it hasn’t been shouted from the roof top yet. There are definitely pieces in there that I saw this weekend that are 4 in some brands, so 26/28.

  • http://www.skinnyemmie.com/ Emily Sandford

I’m glad you like it! Wearing color is like wearing a confidence badge. It says “look at me, I think I’m awesome now and you should look!” We all deserve that, no matter what the size.

I got the sleeveless top from fb the other day. I’m scratching my head on how to style it. Thinking black tank underneath….
