Hooray Sweaty Face!

July 11, 2012

Today was my first day back with J&M Strength and Conditioning since the entire ankle injury from hell. I’ve had to put workouts on my calendar so I make them a priority – they’re non-negotiable and I have to plan accordingly.

Anyway, sweaty face picture for you:

This is a quick post tonight, but I have an interview today over on Hangry Hippo’s blog and she asked some great questions, including:

  • I so appreciate and admire your definition of “skinny” on your website: being happy in your own skin. It’s become a loaded word in our society, in that it’s more often about weight than health, about appearances than feelings/emotions. Can you describe more what this quest for “skinny” means and has entailed for you?
  • So, you’ve been asked many times about how you got started on this journey and then how others can inspire themselves to work towards health. And you have some great tips. But I’m also wondering, during the hard times (injuries, lack of energy, etc.), what motivates you to keep going?
  • Last but not least, I’d like to ask you about “self-imposed shame.” One of your recent posts deals with this issue (Hey, Fat Girl) and you oh so wisely state: “Pull strength from those who lift you up, not those who keep you down.” What a beautiful message. Do you have any other wise advice to dealing with “shame” that you can give our readers?

Go check it out!

Already halfway through the week – you hanging in there?

I need to put workouts on the calender. I work nights and I find it hard motivating myself to get out of bed. Never seems like there is enough sleep. It’s also cold in Australia at the moment too which does not help. I’m doing ok with diet and the exercise I get at work but I could do better. Love your posts. It inspires me to do better :)

I totally understand the feeling of never enough sleep – I battle it all the time. Thanks for reading :)

Getting back on track is not easy. Yay sweaty face!

Ugh, such an understatement! So hard to get back into, but more than worth it.

Good for you getting back on track!

I finally went to the gym and did some weights tonight. I am so sore (already? lol) but it felt so good to be back at them again! I’m hoping the pool is open tomorrow so I can swim laps, and Saturday I will do C25K and weights again. :)

I want to have a success story like you. I as well have ankle issues. 24 yrs ago I fell into a ditch a crushed both ankles. My surgon was worried that I would nevr walk again, but I did. About seven years ago I started having a lot of pain with my ankles and over the last few years I have had 8 ankle surgeris. I can’t run but I can walk so I need to really buckle down and get this weight off..
