Vlog: Health isn’t “all or nothing”

January 11, 2012

If you’re embarking on a new health journey (or even continuing the one you’re on), remember that you can still be successful with slip ups.

Great Vlog Emily. I keep meaning to Vlog and never get around to it. Love your thoughts on resolutions.

So relevant! I love the idea that it’s not an all or nothing. I am so guilty of trying to make radical changes and then after one slip up, throwing in the towel completely. Case in point: I’m trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, but many days I will get to the end of the day and realize I didn’t have a single one! (I know–that’s so gross). But that doesn’t mean I’m doomed to bad health. I just need to make the decision to eat better one meal at a time. It’s the same thing with finances, business goals, etc. As always, thank you for your inspiration and insight that apply to so many parts of life!

Good post! It’s all about choices ~ minute by minute, day by day. Nothing is black and white except old movies :)

Simply put….YOU ROCK!  This is an excellent message and absolutely true.  If any of us are to ever achieve permanent weight loss and better health we can’t let circumstances beyond our control or slip ups be the end of trying.  Thanks for an inspirational vlog.

Excellent Advice!  I think that for many people just shifting how they eat away from the Standard American diet will take pretty much all their energy and focus.  I have been working very hard on quitting sugar for the last 9 months and it is still really really hard.  We need to be kind to ourselves in the struggle and celebrate every victory and each step – baby or medium or giant.  I sure hope that you recover from your injury this year.

It is a great message  - take baby steps & keep the focus on now & not how far there is to go – it is not one way or the highway – do what feels right & baby steps are good to keep you going long term! :-)

This is such an important distinction, Emmie. Nothing squashes our health, weight and fitness goals faster than an all-or-nothing, perfectionist mindset. When we slip, we just need to learn why it happened, and get back on our program.
