My advice on walking

April 20, 2011

Earlier this week I took a blog field trip to Big Girl Bombshell to talk fashion. Today, I hopped on over to Katie’s blog to talk about walking. Go take a look at the post and see my four reasons for walking.

Make sure you also check out last night’s post here, on what support means to me. I really want your feedback – what has been the most helpful support for you on your fitness journey?

This will be my third time trying to write this as my computer keeps kicking me off….Ugh!!

Anyway, my biggest support comes from my family, the internet, and my IPOD. My nephew and daughter ask to go out walking ALL THE TIME!!! In the beginning, I kept up with the Couch to 5K because I didn’t want to let them down when they wanted to walk with me. Because I have this weird quirk where I don’t want to loop back and run back to where I have already been, I run in one direction. My mom then drives up and down the highway when she thinks I will be done with my slogging (slow jogging) and picks me up wherever I finish! Is it totally where that psychologically I don’t walk well if I know I have to go back to where I started?!?! How awesome is it that someone absolutely doesn’t mind picking me up just because I don’t want to turn around?!?! I also love reading blogs like yours that demonstrate there are other women out there who begin health programs and are continuously improving and getting healthier. Finally, although this is also a quirk of mine…..buying an IPOD and downloading the C25K podcasts gives me enough structure to continue slogging even when I want to stop. I need someone or something that spells it all out for me and tells me what to do, but I can’t afford a trainer and so this is the next best thing:) Love your blog……

Hi Emmie I am a follower even though I just read and don’t always post…You are in inspiration!! I get support from all my fellow blogger and WW Opie sisters..it has been a very rewarding journey so far…BTW you are doing an awesome job…

Emmie can you do me a favor, cause you have a lot more people that read your blog than mine… Attune Foods one of the sponsors at fitBloggin 11 this year is giving away a ticket to fitbloggin 11 and $500 to help with expenses…I won my ticket to go and I just thought maybe your fellow members would love this chance. Here is the link to my blog where I give the details…

Good advice! I’m less in love with the gym right now and I’ve not been doing enough in my efforts to get healthy, so I’m trying to reintroduce regular walking to my regime and I’ve got to admit I’m not hating it :-)
