Even if I don’t feel it, you can’t deny it

December 4, 2010

I just realized that the Southern Lights Stroll 5K results were up. I knew I finished somewhere around the 50 minute mark, but wasn’t sure exactly. Not that it really matters.

For some reason, I almost didn’t believe I completed it so much faster than my goal time, and so much faster than my first 5K time. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a runner and not competitive at all in these races. So why does this official time really matter?

I’m feeling in the dumps lately. Just in a complete funk. Dealing with anxiety as I’ve mentioned before. I feel tired, even though I shouldn’t be. I don’t feel like I’m progressing, and I find myself just going through the motions- not just with weight loss, but with everything.  I’m starting therapy next week to try to identify the reasons behind this, and honestly, I’m so excited for it.

These results, however, show that I AM making progress, even if I don’t feel it:

So tonight, I’m going to sleep feeling a little better about myself. My work is paying off, even if I don’t *feel* like it is.

Remember this next time you’re in a funk: You can’t deny the progress, even if you don’t feel it.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes progress is so slow you wonder what I am working so hard for. But you are right…your progress is outstanding. You managed to shave over 8 minutes off your last race….8 minutes!! That is amazing Emmie and you should be extremely proud of that.

    You Rock!!

I’m sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time in the other aspects of your life lately, but it really sounds like you are taking the right steps to make it better!

You really are doing an amazing job. You cut almost TEN minutes off your time. That’s UNREAL! Keep kicking some ass.
