Community | #reverb10

December 7, 2010

This month I’m participating in #reverb10. Every day a new prompt is issued and I will write my response. The goal is to reflect on 2010 and manifest what’s next in 2011. Want to learn more? Visit www.reverb10.com.

Prompt: Community. Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?

Community is something I really want to focus on in 2011, and that is because the community I’ve discovered in 2010 has made such a difference.

Even though it might sound socially awkward to those who haven’t known this kind of community, I am so thankful for the online blogging community that I have discovered in 2010. Once I fully took a nose dive into the fitness/weight loss blogging community through blogs, #fitblog and Twitter, my days have been enriched by the like-minded people of all sizes and at all phases in their journeys who continually encourage, motivate and inspire me to try harder. This community is like a little set of cheerleaders that I know will rise to the occasion when I have a great weigh in and will also console when things look less positive. I’m immensely thankful for every comment on the blog, tweet, Facebook message and email. I’m also immensely thankful that other people share their stories. Even if I don’t say anything, I’m most likely reading and learning something.

In 2011, I want to connect more with this community through Fitbloggin‘. I also want to build stronger relationships in person with friends both new and old who are local to me. I truly believe you can never have too much support.

One wonderful proof my communities colliding:

Communities Colliding: Real life friends, new blog friends, gym friends, reality tv friends ;)

What about you? Have you discovered community this year?

I completely understand what you’re talking about in terms of the blogging world. Some of the people I’ve “met” through weight loss blogging are better friends with me than my friends in real life. I’m hoping to meet them in person some day.

That’s such a great photo of you and the “collision of your worlds.”
