Vacation Recap: Cozumel

September 5, 2010

After the wonderful jet skiing experience in Key West, I worried a little that the rest of the trip would fizzle out and end with a thud.

Our next stop was Cozumel. I read online about a place called Nachi Cocom, an all inclusive beach club. My hubs loves all-inclusive anything- our honeymoon was at an all-inclusive resort and he was in heaven not stressing out about how much everything was going to cost. (He’s kind of OCD about certain things, including spending money.) I thought since he went with me on the jet skiing thing, that I could do an all inclusive day in Cozumel.

It was heaven! The water was crystal clear and you could see right to the bottom of the ocean floor. The waiters would yell out to you in the ocean and get your drink orders. We spent the day with  new friends from the ship and we drank beer in the ocean and had a great lunch. The weather was beautiful and I haven’t felt so relaxed in a very, very long time. I also wasn’t ashamed of being in my swimsuit. I just was present in the moment and didn’t worry about what anyone else thought. I got lots of sun and floated in the water most of the day.

After Cozumel, the next day was to be spent at sea, and then to the Bahamas the following day. Unfortunately, Hurricane Earl made it too dangerous for us to go to the Bahamas. We sailed there, but the morning we were supposed to get off the ship there, the captain turned us around. The 2 days at sea were fun too though, so I didn’t complain!

I’ll write about the rest of the days at sea in a separate post- stay tuned!

The swimsuit is from Always for Me. There are more pictures of it here: http://skinnyemmie.com/2010/08/day-in-pictures/ I love it! There was a girl on the ship who had the same suit in black- I’m so glad I went away from my comfort zone and got the blue. Wouldn’t want to have a twin on the ship!

Heavenly! I’m so glad you had a good time – and those pictures are GORGEOUS. I wrote on my blog (earlier) seven things about myself. One was – believe it or not – a secret desire for a bunch of us bloggers to go on a cruise, meeting over salads. Ha!! So, I am secretly living the experience through your trip. It sounded like such fun, and I’m GLAD you didn’t worry about what others think – having a grand time bobbing in the water! I hope you still feel rested. xx

Wasn’t wearing a bathing suit and not being ashamed on your 101 list….?

I’ve lived in Florida for over 20 years and have not once been on a cruise. The all inclusive thing seems ideal when traveling with children, too. The whole swimsuit thing was definitely something on my mind as well. But I think I can do it; now to pull $3000 out of my patootie to pay for a trip…

We were on Royal Caribbean and it really wasn’t too expensive for just the cruise portion. When you added in the airfare to Fort Lauderdale and the hotel room the night before departure, those costs could have added up if I didn’t have frequent flyer miles or hotel rewards points. They had a great children’s program as well- there were 400 kids on the ship and they all seemed like they had a grand time!
