BlogapaLOSEa | Week 6

October 10, 2009

DSCN2444Here’s my BlogapaLOSEa update for this week. Didn’t weigh last week for BlogapaLOSEa because of the sugar free cherry pie incedent, so it feels good to get back on the scale this week (who thought I’d ever say that?!?!)

Can I just TELL YOU how bad my clothes are fitting? I think I just started off with really tight clothes because I haven’t really gone down the sizes I thought I would have losing the total poundage I’ve lost so far. These jeans in the picture look too tight in the stomach, yet they literally fall off when I walk. The size below them are way too tight. I blame it on bad manufacturing- LOL. And my underwear- ugh, don’t get me started on how they don’t fit. I need to write a post on my pannus. Yes, pannus (not penis you perverts!).

Last time we checked, I was down 10.2 for BlogapaLOSEa. Add the 2 pounds lost this week and I”m at 12.2. Still haven’t checked to see how others are doing, so not sure if this is good or bad! I’ll just keep trucking and try to make sure I’m just doing my best.

You look so happy! I am so proud of you!

I have no idea where I am – and won’t until I get my scale back on 11/03. But I’m fine with that!

By the way, I was wondering if you wanted to have dinner one night this week? Thursday maybe? I’d love to get together again!

It’s inspiring to see your weekly pounds lost list. And if I’m inspired by it, I can only imagine how it makes you feel! That said, what kind of scale do you use? I’m in the market for an accurate-to-the-tenth-of-a-pound one but don’t know where to start and thought you’d be a good person to ask.

Krissie- With all the running you’re doing, you should feel great no matter what the scale ends up saying on 11/03. Seriously, it’s great. RE: dinner, I’ll shoot you an email!

Becky- Thanks so much! I use a Tanita scale (HD-351 to be exact). I’ve never heard anything bad about Tanita brand scales. That being said, I had to get the HD-351 because it had a high capacity- most people can get a lower-cost model with same great to-the-tenth results. Love how it auto-stores the previous weight and allows for multiple users- hubs uses it as well. We’ve had it for 3 years, changed the batteries once, and it’s never let us down. I even use it as a postal scale for packages from time-to-time, LOL!

You are looking fantastic! I love seeing your progress.

The clothes thing is one of the really annoying parts about losing weight. I started taking out sweaters this week, only to find that all of my sweaters from last year are way too big. And so much of my weight is being lost in the hip/stomach area, so my jeans and other pants are huge. I decided to start buying jeans and such at thrift stores, ’cause there is no way I want to spend $30 on a pair of pants that are going to be too big in a few months.

Hey, don’t sweat the lack of weight loss! I’ve been the same weight for at least nine months now, hovering anywhere between 187lbs and 196lbs, but I’ve continued to slim down. I eat a low carb, mostly paleo/primal diet, and it’s definitely working for me. If your weight stays the same, but you keep slimming down, that’s great! It means that you are losing fat, but replacing it with muscle mass. Pay more attention to how your clothes fit than to the number on your scale. (In fact, I only weigh myself once every couple of weeks or so, at most. No sense in going crazy over it. When I see my weight go up after having noticed that I’ve simultaneously trimmed down a bit, I just smile.) When I started all this three years ago, I weighed around 320 lbs. The progress has been slow at times, but steady. I’m in no hurry! Eating low carb (and real, whole food) keeps my metabolism in good shape, and the weight loss just happens as a very nice side effect.

This is the first time, by the way, that I’ve visited your site (via Jimmy Moore’s link). Keep on keepin’ on!
